Nooshin Hashemi Sadraei, MD, assistant professor of medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Cincinnati, discusses the challenges of treating HPV-induced tumors.

Hashemi Sadraei says oropharynx cancer is the most challenging of the HPV-induced tumors due to a shift in the biology of the disease, as well as an improvement in survival, making metastatic disease a more prominent focus today. In the past, metastasized disease was a less common phenomenon. However, patients today are living long enough to survive their local-regional disease and potentially develop metastatic disease.
