The American Oncology Network, LLC (AON) will be acquiring a new practice from Ohio in August.

Hematology Oncology Center, Inc. will become a part of AON on August 1, 2019. The practice, based in Elyria, Ohio, will be able to improve upon the services they offer patients by upgrading their technology, expanding their oral oncolytic outpatient pharmacy, and augmenting their care management services with AON.

Todays healthcare environment is increasingly complex. Partnering with AON enables us to continue to provide expert care, and to offer expanded services including the AON in-house pathology lab, which provides critical information typically within 24 hours, and with the highest level of accuracy when determining our patient’s treatment plan, Belagodu Kantharaj, MD, a medical oncologist at the Hematology Oncology Center, said in a press release.

We are pleased to welcome Drs Belagodu Kantharaj, Jay Sidloski, Ruben Escuro, Patrick Litam, and the staff of Hematology Oncology Center, Inc. into American Oncology Network, LLC, AON CEO, Bradley Prechtl, MBA, said in a press release. Through alliances such as this, AON offers a wider range of services to affiliated practices, enabling community oncologists to provide excellent, value-based care while retaining autonomy to make the best decisions for their patients and staff.

Founded in 2017 by the same team who started the Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the United States, AON is made up of physicians and healthcare leaders working together to provide quality care for patients and see to the success of community oncology practices.

AON offers protocols for managing administrative procedures and improving services for its affiliates. Practices can transition to value-based reimbursement models with assistance from AON, which helps reduce the per-capita cost of cancer care to improve the patients experience. They also provide services such as a centralized specialty pharmacy, diagnostics, pathology, fully-integrated electronic medical records, a care management team, and financial assistance programs through their physician-led, community-based oncology management.
