James Hamrick, MD, senior medical director, Flatiron Health, discusses how clinical trials can be improved in the community setting during the ACCC 44th Annual Meeting & Cancer Center Business Summit.

Hamrick believes there is an opportunity to design trials that are more fit for the real world. Community oncologists are primarily taking care of patients all day, and trials should fit into their work flow as to not be disruptive. If this type of protocol is put in place, more practices will be able to open clinical trials, and more doctors within those institutions will be motivated to participate, Hamrick says.
