Edward Balaban, DO , FACP, FASCO Named Advocate of the Year by the Association for Clinical Oncology

The Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) named Edward Balaban, DO, FACP, FASCO Advocate of the Year during the 2022 ASCO Advocacy Summit in April.

In 2021, Dr. Balaban went above and beyond advocating on behalf of cancer care professionals and their patients. From sending ACT Network letters to his lawmakers, participating in the 2021 Advocacy Summit, attending agency meetings with the Government Relations Committee, or serving on ASCO’s delegation to the American Medical Association House of Delegates, Dr. Balaban made cancer care advocacy a priority throughout 2021. Dr. Balaban’s dedication to ensuring patients with cancer receive the best possible care is truly inspiring. Congratulations!

Marilyn Heine, MD Named Advocacy Champion by the Association for Clinical Oncology

The Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) named Marilyn Heine, MDas an Advocacy Champion during the 2022 ASCO Advocacy Summit in April. Advocacy Champions are ASCO volunteers who have made meaningful contributions to the Association’s advocacy activities throughout the year to ensure that every patient with cancer has access to high-quality, equitable cancer care, no matter who they are or where they live. Advocates speak with federal lawmakers and agencies, send personalized letters to Members of Congress through ASCO’s ACT Network, engage with state lawmakers on policy priorities at the state-level, and host site visits for lawmakers in their home states and districts. Congratulations!
