Michael Diaz, MD, will co-chair the Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform presented by the Community Oncology Alliance on October 24 and 25, 2022 in Tysons Corner, VA.

Fort Myers, Fla., October 25, 2022 – Michael Diaz, MD, President & Managing Physician of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS), will co-chair the Payer Exchange Summit on Oncology Payment Reform presented by the Community Oncology Alliance (COA) on October 24 and 25, 2022 in Tysons Corner, VA. Cancer stakeholders from across the country representing providers, health insurers, employers, policymakers and others will come together at the invitation only gathering to share experiences on efforts to advance oncology payment reform, increase value and improve the patient experience in the U.S. cancer care system.

“Our long-term goal is to align Medicare, private payers and providers in one national model to ensure that patients with cancer can receive care that is high quality and cost efficient,” Diaz said. “FCS has experienced great success in payment reform efforts at the national, state and local level. I look forward to sharing with our colleagues all is and is not working so together we can succeed in achieving our transformation goals.”

Diaz will serve as a co-presenter for the session titled “Importance of Good Quality Measures in Oncology,” which will examine the intricacies and importance of oncology quality measures, how they are being used today and efforts to align measurements across stakeholders.

Diaz will moderate the following panel discussions:

  • “Can We Have a World Without PBMs?” – A panel of cancer care teams will review alternatives and opportunities beyond the traditional Pharmacy Benefit Manager model
  • “Insurer Perspectives on Oncology Reform Efforts & New Payment Models” – National health insurers will offer their perspectives on current reform efforts and what they expect from new and upcoming payment models.
  • “Cancer Care Team Perspectives on Oncology Reform Efforts & New Payment Models” -Oncology practice leaders will give their perspective on the risks and benefits that result from payment transformation efforts.
  • Practice Perspectives on the EOM: Why or Why Not Participate?” – a panel examining the Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM), the latest effort of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to reduce spending and improve quality of care.
