However, previous studies have generally been limited in scope and have not evaluated outcomes across a broad range of tumor types in a large community oncology population.
To address this gap, investigators analyzed real-world data from patients receiving care in community oncology settings. The study found that GLP-1 receptor agonist use was associated with a 34% reduction in the risk of death compared with nonuse. According to Paulus, this survival association remained consistent across multiple analytic approaches designed to reduce the effects of confounding and other biases commonly encountered in observational research.
Paulus emphasizes that the analysis demonstrates an association rather than causation.
