A New Era in Sarcoma Treatment? Dr Banks on the Potential of TIL Therapy

Fact checked by: Sabrina Serani

Lauren Banks, MD, PhD, explains early findings from a pilot study of lifileucel in dedifferentiated liposarcoma and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, including treatment feasibility, safety, and response durability.

Patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas have limited treatment options after progression on first-line chemotherapy, and responses to immunotherapy have historically been less durable than those observed in some other malignancies. At the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, investigators presented findings from a pilot study evaluating lifileucel (Amtagvi), a tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy, in patients with dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS).¹,²
