Golcadomide Offers Potential Outpatient Option for Relapsed Follicular Lymphoma
Oral golcadomide with rituximab delivers high responses and manageable safety, enabling outpatient care for relapsed follicular lymphoma.
In an interview with Targeted Oncology at the
Morillo explains that, in addition to producing high overall and complete response rates in the phase 1 study, golcadomide offers a practical benefit as an oral cereblon E3 ligase modulator (CELMoD). He discusses how an oral regimen may reduce the treatment burden for patients, particularly those who live far from major academic centers or have limited access to specialized lymphoma care. Rather than requiring frequent visits for intravenous therapy or prolonged monitoring, patients receiving golcadomide can largely be managed in the outpatient setting while returning for routine follow-up appointments and disease assessments.
Morillo also addresses the regimen's manageable safety profile and its implications for community oncology practice. He notes that the adverse events observed with golcadomide have been predictable and manageable, supporting administration without hospitalization or intensive monitoring. He emphasizes that this may allow more patients to receive treatment at community-based hospitals or smaller oncology practices, potentially expanding access to novel therapies outside of tertiary referral centers.
Taken together, Morillo describes golcadomide as an investigational agent with the potential to combine meaningful clinical activity with the convenience of oral administration. He explains how these characteristics could help make treatment more accessible and practical for both clinicians and patients, particularly as development of the regimen continues in larger, randomized clinical trials.
